Being Spunky

by Spunky

This is my story about how I got to be me, Spunky, how I got my Meowmie, and how I became part of my new family.

The beginning~
I was born in the middle of May. My mom is a beautifur Tortoiseshell kitty and my dad a big orange tom. I am the spitting image of my dad – big and orange! I am only 6 months old and already weigh almost 8 pounds! I grew up under a big porch wif my two brofurs and one sisfur. Our mom was furry wary of humans and she taught us to be scared, too. We would run out to get the food they put out fur us, and then run and hide. After a while, my liddle brofur, Rascal, and I started to become friendly with people. We let them pick us up and pet us. We used to sit on their patios and look into their homes. There were other cats looking back out at us! We wondered what it would be like to be those cats and what it was like to have a home.

Going to the vet~
Something different happened to my brofur and me last month. Instead of getting food, we were scooped up and put into small cages. Yikes! Was I scared? Yes! What was happening? We were going to the vet for the very first time. It turned out to be not so bad. Everybody “oohed and ahhed” about us and told us how cute we were. They said we were sweet and brave, too. We got poked and prodded and stuck with needles. Then it was back into the cages, back into the car and back home. We went back to being outside.

Bad and good news~
The bad news is I went back to the vet to get “fixed”. Was I broken? Ha hah! I feel the same. I just am missing some bumps that used to be at the base of my tail. Rascal must have been broken, too, because he had to be fixed. The good news is I got adopted. I knew if I played my cards right I would find a forever home. I just had to get my paws in the door and then my purrsonality would win the heart of any human. Rascal got adopted by a nice couple who were feeding us on their patio. I saw him at the vet.

My new family~
I now have a BIG family; my meowmie and 6 brofurs and 3 sisfurs. I live in a house with an upstairs and a downstairs. At first I stayed in the bedroom by myself. I got to sleep in the bed with Meowmie all by myself. That was great. Now I have the run of the house. I like all my brofurs and sisfurs even though some of them have hissed and growled at me.

My favorite things to do~
• Snuggling in bed with Meowmie is my favorite thing.
• Following Meowmie wherever she goes in the house
• Eating soft kitten food that I don’t have to share
• Making biscuits on Meowmie’s chest – I learned to use the “soft paw” technique
• Helping Meowmie read her book
• Helping Meowmie make the bed (I am very helpful)
• Playing with toys
• Hiding from Meowmie (tee, hee)
• Looking out the window
• Being a happy cat in my forever home
