Remembering CLAW

by Jessie

There has been a lot of talk lately about CLAW, remembering how much fun we had and that we all still miss CLAW even thought it has been closed for years. So I thought I would like to share some of my thoughts and feelings that I have gathered throughout the years as a member of CLAW.

I can remember how impressed I was that there was a club dedicated to cats as big as CLAW. I can remember how I would find a page that I liked and wanted to return to it but couldn't find it anywhere. How frustrating, and very daunting for a very young kitten too. But they had a plan for that in the form of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

It wasn't long before I started finding my way around, finding new and exciting groups to join, but the University, that was the place I loved the most. I took every class I could take, starting from Kittengarten and working my way through all the classes and all the colleges, until I believe I managed to take every class there was. I got all the degrees I could and enjoyed it so much. Some of the classes were so much fun that I would laugh with glee, thinking this was much more fun than any human school.

Then one day the opportunity came up for me to take over my beloved Sports and Recreation College, it started out as my favorite college, and remains so today. Just imagine me, Jessie, as the Dean of the Sports and Recreation Department. I was so proud of that. As time went on I made other classes and colleges, but until I was asked to take over Kittengarten the Spots and Recreation Department remained my favorite. Kittengarten was a fun job, I got to make classes, teach classes, and help grow young kittens into cats.

I met so many wonderful cats and their humans, most of which I am still friends with today. But there were some that just scared me to death. The Queens almost did me in when I had to talk to them, I would stutter and stammer, and fall over my young paws when those occasions came up. Then there was the webmaster that I had to deal with when I started making classes and doing the Zine. Now he terrified me. I wonder why, he was never mean to me, in fact he was always very polite, as French kitties usually are. But after a few years I think we actually became friends and we are still in contact today.

I met my wedwink Day-Late in CLAW. We were both working in the Social Committee, gosh that was way back in 1998, a long time ago, before either SassyJazmine or the boyz were even born. We had so much fun going to halloween parties, doing the Hunts, being members of the Sneaky Paws, being Gremlin Hunters and just plain having fun. I call that the good ole' days, or BB (before brats, that would be my siblings of course).
