Guinevere De Miraval

When I found out we could interview someone for the Summer Zine, I raced right over to Spain to interview the most beautiful white kitty I know. I wasn't sure how to start the interview that was taking place in the beautiful little village near Barcelona, Spain, so I asked Guiny that if I asked her to introduce herself to me, what would she say?
Guiny: Well, this one is difficult. Let me think … hhmm Ok. I am a white Turkish Angora with amber eyes, 2 years old. I love my humans and my friends and I’m very shy in general.

Where do you live Guiny? This is the most beautiful village, with the mountains and flowers and trees.
Guiny: I live in Spain, to be more exact in the Autonomy Community named “Catalunya”, in the Province of Barcelona and precisely in a city named Berga. I know it is a city, but its size is of a small town, almost a village. We moved here last summer and I’m very happy with the change, before we moved here, we lived in Barcelona, the capital of Catalunya, but it’s chaos all the time and much pollution.

How did you find your forever home Guiny? I have heard part of the story and it has always fascinated me how they do things in different countries. I live in the USA and am not a special kitty at all, except to my Meowmie.
Guiny: My actual humans had a cat before me, she went to the Rainbow Bridge when she was about 19 years old, she suffered a lot of pain. The humans knew the kind of cat they wanted, even the fur color, but fafur wanted someone with different color eyes, just like Left; he says he had a cat like that when he was a child. Mine are not brown, nor green, that is why they say they are amber. Meowmie searched around Spain, Portugal and France (as near as possible to their home). She found a breeder here in Spain that had white kitties, but none with the odd eyes. As meowmie kept in contact with the breeder, she found that because her special circumstances, she could not “buy” a kitten, but she could get a teen cat and the sedum-adoption would be under very special criteria and with an official contract. So Meowmie only had to decide which of the 3 possible white cats, which fulfilled her needs, she wanted. Also the breeder said someone should go to Madrid (the capital of Spain) to travel with me, meowmie was supposed to do that trip, but she couldn’t, so fafur went to Madrid instead. While he was at the house of the breeder, he found 25 other cats, besides me, lived there. Fafur could not make up his mind which kitty to choose and so he phoned Meowmie. The breeder had spoken to Meowmie about me a lot, but also about my sibling and other 2 cats (Talula and Amarantine), so Meowmie said she wanted me and my brother. Fafur said that ONLY ONE could go home with him, although the breeder said there would be no extra charge for taking both of us. At that point meowmie said she would rather have the sweet, shy little girl kitty. She made the best decision possible, as you can imagine, she chose ME!!!

Having seen the beautiful, elegant, shy little girl kitty, I wondered if the wild side of her ever peeped out, every now and then I thought I saw a little devilment in her eyes. I wondered what she liked to play with, if she ever got a little frisky, so I asked her what her favorite toy was.
Strings, I love strings, running after them and stealing them, so my that humans will play with me. I also love a toy with colored feathers meowmie made for me, it is a stick with the feathers attached and she makes me jump as high as possible trying to catch it. Guess I’m happy with that, although I have many, many toys. Some have even been donated to a shelter as I can’t play with them all. My humans are very nice.

I love to do hobbies with my Meowmie, and I have heard that you and your meowmie have hobbies too. What do you and your Meowmie, do and better yet, do you do them together?
Sure we have hobbies, but I specially love those we can share, I lap as she does things or she holds me while doing stuff. Meowmie loves doing handicrafts, different kind and techniques. She may have a cross stitch project going at he same time as she is doing a tiffany lamp, making figures of Mache paper, fur toys or painting on wood. With us you can never know what we may be up to, LOL. We also like to play with the computer and experiment on things with it. Next month we are going to start a course to learn how to program with Java. Baking cakes is great, especially when Meowmie gets to use the kind of milk that I like and doesn’t hurt me, she always lets me have a little sip.

Your rainbow sibling, Tissy, was one of the founders of CLAW. That was a huge club and enjoyed by so many kitties throughout the world. Have you ever thought of starting another cat club? I still miss CLAW and I realize that there will never be another one, but maybe a new one would be fun.
Many friends have told me about a club named CLAW, but it was closed long before I was even born. I have never been a member of a club, at least not officially. Meowmie told me she thinks lives have different stages, and for now, at this stage of my life, it is not time to think about such matter. Maybe if I get to have a good paw with Java, I might ask her to let me show off my capabilities …. Right now and for at least this year the answer is NO to a new cat club.

My meowmie always says an inside cat is a safe cat, are you an inside or outside cat, or both?
I’m just an inside cat, the contract fafur signed for meowmie, it says I will never be allowed to be out of the house, even if we had a garden. In case we had a garden the humans should build a special solarium just for me, but they can not let me go out just by myself.

Being a very shy little girl, do you belong to many groups on the world wide cat internet.
Let me think … very recently I joined the BFCC Feline Photo Forum, also the hobbies group that Henri just started. I’ve participated in a couple issues of the Zine and would love to keep on doing it. Get closer, so I can whisper to you that the most important group I was accepted into, well ... they form a secret society – sshhh – come closer so I can tell you something more, the initials are SP.

Turning to a more personal side, I asked the beautiful Guiny about something that I have been working on almost my entire life, there is this certain French Kitty that I have been attracted to and I asked her if she had any suggestions on how to gain his attention?
Feel happy if you can be one of his best friends, as he is more interested in eating than compromise. I know that when he gives his friendship, it is with all his heart and with no limits, don’t ask him for things he doesn’t believe in … Enjoy the friendship he gives you, that is all you can do.

That really is good advise, I have stalked him all my life, maybe I should settle for friendship, after all, I would be lost without it. So, having made the decision not to stalk Niklos any longer, I asked Guiny how she get her beautiful name.
Oh, that is a very easy question, I’m part of litter “G” from the breeder, I'm not sure if the number was “G-25” or “G-16”, but you know, here in Spain it is kind of a tradition to name the members of the litter with the letter of their birth litter. As the breeder thinks that every cat is a king or a queen, she always looks for glamour names for each kitten. As I was an attractive, shy little girl that need a lot of protection, so I was named after King Arthur’s wife Guinevere. My complete name is Guinevere De Miraval and I can say my humans are good knights for me!
