An Interview with Gizmo

by Prissy

Meows everyone, my name is Prissy and I am so happy to be here at the Zine. I would like to introduce all of you to my older brofur, Gizmo, who is almost 15 years old. I chose to interview Gizmo, as I admire him and his courage through all of his illnesses and thankfully he still remains with our family.

Prissy: Thank you for letting me interview you today Gizmo.

Gizmo: It is my pleasure Prissy. Always willing to lend a paw.

Prissy: Gizmo, let me start out by asking you how are you feeling lately as I know older age is tough.

Gizmo: Yes, Prissy you are so right. I have had to slow down quite a bit as I am not as sure footed or as strong as I used to be. As you have noticed I have also lost weight and getting around can be hard work. All in all though I think I am doing rather well for my age and chronic medical condition.

Prissy: That was actually going to be my next question about your chronic illness. I admire you so much as Mom has to take you to the vet for IV and other things and I know that is so upsetting to you.

Gizmo: It is very upsetting and I always scratch, bite, and growl at the vet but I do not mean to do that. It is just very hard for me going to the vet and having them take blood and poke me all over the place as I hate it! I was born with crystals in my kidneys and in my lifetime they act up from time to time and it is painful and when that happens off to the vet I go! I especially hate that IV thing in my paw. Ouch that hurts! I try and stay away from the vet's office as much as possible :)

Prissy: So Gizmo please share with us what are some of your favorite things to do.

Gizmo: Well, my very favorite thing to do is cuddle up to my Mommy. I love her the most and spend as much time with her that I possibly can.

Prissy: Aw Gizmo that is so sweet :) I know you used to be very active playing with your toys etc. Are you still doing that?

Gizmo: I still love my catnip toys but I do not play anymore like I used to as I prefer to cuddle and sleep when I am not eating! I still play once in a while when I am in the mood for a roll with some catnip!

Prissy: What is your favorite food?

Gizmo: Well, do not let Mom know this but I love table food. I still knock over plates, bowls, anything I can get my paws into to get to table food. I am not supposed to do that but I love the taste and just cannot help myself.

Prissy: What is your favorite table food? Do not worry I will not let Mom see this interview:)

Gizmo: I love chicken. Yum Yum. I also enjoy eating peas. Butter is another one of my favorites as well as cream cheese. I try and sneak a lick whenever possible. Mom has me eating that boring W/D food and it is not fun at all! I know she is only trying to look out for my best interests.

Prissy: Do you have a favorite hiding place or favorite sleeping spot besides on Mom?

Gizmo: Yes, I actually have a few places I like to sleep but mostly in Mom's bed is the best place. At times I like to sleep in the closet on top of all of the comfy blankets. I also like to sleep on the top part of the couch across the top of the pillows. That can be real comfy!

Prissy: Now Gizmo, I know you have slowed down with age but let's be honest you know you love to chase after Luckie from time to time.

Gizmo: Yes, Prissy you have let the cat out of the bag:) I have a thing where when I am feeling pretty good I chase and drive my sisfur, Luckie crazy! I am relentless and chase her under the bed over the bed under the couches. It can be fun but I know Luckie hates it and she growls and hisses and screams to get away from me. I know I need to work on that bad behavior but at the time when it happens I have fun! Mom usually has to grab Luckie from me to protect her. I never would hurt Luckie as I love her but I just like to bother her. I guess I continue to do it because I know she hates it!

Prissy: Gizmo it has been my honor to interview you and I appreciate you taking the time to speak with me. I admire you and understand how tough it can be for you at times of illness and otherwise. I am very happy you are my sibling and that you are still here with us.

Gizmo: Thanks Prissy. I love you too and thanks for the compliments. It was my pleasure to do this interview with you. You were great as always!
